With just one week until we open, last night’s final tech rehearsal filled me with excitement and hope. Directing this show has been an absolute joy, thanks to our incredibly talented cast. At the heart of it is Dr. Melinda Moore, who portrays Heidi Schreck. Melinda takes us on a poignant journey, recalling Heidi's experiences as a teen Oratory Speech competitor in the 80s. She weaves history, facts about our constitution, and the critical issue of women’s representation into a narrative that’s both touching and thought-provoking. While the themes are profound, the playwright’s brilliant script masterfully blends laughter with emotion. Melinda has truly risen to the challenge, beautifully embodying the depth of her character and bringing the playwright's vision to life. I can’t wait for the audience to experience this powerful and uplifting story.
