Save the Date! Auditions Coming Soon for Purpose by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins

Hey, theater family!

I am so thrilled to share that pre-production is officially underway for my next directorial project at Manoa Valley Theatre: Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ brilliant, deeply moving play, *Purpose*.

Fresh off its acclaimed, award-winning Broadway run, we are incredibly honored that Manoa Valley Theatre will be the first theatre in the nation to mount this production following its Broadway debut!

*Purpose* centers on the Jaspers, a prominent and influential Black family carrying the heavy weight of a massive legacy and the profound expectations that come with having a patriarch revered as a Civil Rights icon. It’s an incredibly rich, multigenerational story about family dynamics, identity, secrets, and what it truly costs to preserve a public legacy.

We are looking to build an amazing cast to bring these dynamic characters to life.
