Juneteenth at Manoa Valley Theatre

Last night was one of the most inspiring evenings! I had the privilege of being on a panel with some of the most talented folks in the Hawaii Black Theatre community. Made up of directors, producers, playwrights, and actors, we discussed the importance of representation on stage and in film.

The entire evening was inspirational, featuring various performances of monologues by some of the most influential Black playwrights over the decades.

What made the night even more special was having the cast of Clyde’s there, both as leaders and performers, and for support! Shervelle (our Clyde) produced an amazing Juneteenth event, Johnny (Montrellous' understudy and choreographer) delivered a riveting performance of a Langston Hughes poem, and Tafa’i (assistant director), Jake (Jason), and Rey (Tish) showered us all with support and love. It was a truly special evening!
